Is still a good business to have a SUV, for the middle calss? Is still a good business to have a SUV, for the middle calss? price p/gallon $ 4.50......... how much do you spent on a suv ? I will buy whatever vehicle meets my needs regardless of gas prices or other people's opinion. Does that answer your question??? Guillermo, SUV’s are becoming more and more economical. You can find some SUV’s that offer great gas mileage mpg like the Chevrolet Equinox and the GMC Acadia. Because of the room they provide, I would agree with the first post, sometimes it is nice to just have what you need in a vehicle. If you go with an SUV you are not looking to get great gas mileage, rather for the positive features that come with the SUV. I would check out the Chevrolet website for more information on our Crossovers and SUVs. Good luck on your search! Auto parts : Air Suspension Compressor Acura 1995 . How to Replace a Fuel Pump in a GMC SonomaWhen replacing the fuel pump in a GMC Sonoma, make sure that no one around the vehicle is smoking and that there's nothing around that can cause a spark. The gas tank will be open, and gas fumes all around the area of the tank will be very easy to ignite. If the fuel tank is full or close to full, it will also be very heavy and awkward, so make sure to keep it on the floor jack once the straps are released. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Jack stands Set of 3/8-inch drive sockets 3/8-inch drive ratchet 3/8-inch drive long extension Hammer Common screwdriver Wire cutters Needle-nose pliers Phillips screwdriver Set of torx screwdrivers Step by Step : 1 Raise and support the truck on jack stands high enough to work comfortably underneath. Remove the gas cap and the three screws around the inside cover of the gas cap with either the Phillips screwdriver or the appropriate torx. 2 Loosen the clamps on the filler tube near the fuel tank using the common screwdriver. Loosen the clamp on the vent tube. Push the filler pipe out of the hose connector and remove the vent tube the same way. Just push them out (use the common screwdriver, if necessary). 3 Remove the bottom shield under the tank using the 3/8-inch ratchet and a socket. There should be two bolts on the front and the back. Place the floor jack under the center of the fuel tank and raise the jack to just touch the underside of the tank. 4 Remove the electrical connector for the fuel pump. It is either on the rear of the tank where it is easy to get at, or on the frame side of the tank. Just squeeze the connector and pull apart. 5 Remove the rear tank strap bolt which is straight up above the driveshaft. Use a 3/8-inch drive 15 mm socket and ratchet with a long extension. Drop the strap and push it out of the way toward the frame. Just loosen the front strap bolt at this point to allow the rear of the tank to lower so the fuel lines can be disconnected. 6 Lower the jack just enough to reach the fuel and vent lines. Disconnect the fuel and vent lines using the needle-nose pliers to squeeze the fittings to unlock them and pull them off of the pump housing top. 7 Raise the floor jack again just enough to level the tank. Remove the front fuel tank strap bolt and lower the fuel tank carefully, taking care not to tip it and spill fuel out of the opening for the fuel filler. 8 Lay the fuel tank on the floor. Remove the fuel pump top securing ring by using the common screwdriver and hammer and tapping the flanges counterclockwise until the ring is loose. 9 Withdraw the fuel pump module from the top of the fuel tank. Watch for the large O-ring under the module lip so that it does not fall into the tank. This is the O-ring that seals the top of the tank from leaking. Install the new O-ring over the fuel pump module so it will lie under the top lip when installed. Step by Step : 10 Install the fuel pump module, taking care not to damage the fuel sending unit float. Make sure that the fuel pump hose ends are located in the proper direction and that the top lip has the O-ring under it. The tang on the top lip of the module sits into the recess in the tank top, which is used to properly orientate the pump. Push the lock ring into the recesses that they came out of, and use the common screwdriver and hammer and tap the tangs to rotate the ring clockwise to lock it down into place. Step by Step : 11 Plug the new wiring harness (it comes with the fuel pump) into the fuel pump electrical connector and lay the harness over the tank so that it can by easily connected to the vehicle harness connector. Step by Step : 12 Lay the fuel tank on the floor jack. Raise the tank and position it properly in its recess in the truck bed. Bolt up the front strap loosely to help hold the tank while the rear of the tank is angled down so the fuel lines can be connected. Step by Step : 13 Attach the fuel lines to the fuel pump at this time. Give each a tug to make sure that they are on securely. Raise the tank a little at a time. At the same time, line the metal filler neck up with the rubber connector hose on the tank and push it in. Use the common screwdriver to tighten the clamps. Attach the vent hose and tighten the clamp. Step by Step : 14 Raise the tank the rest of the way and attach the rear fuel tank strap by inserting the bolt through the strap and into the truck bed attachment point using the 15 mm socket, extension and ratchet. Tighten both bolts securely. Step by Step : 15 Plug in the electrical harness. Install the fuel tank bottom protective cover and tighten the bolts. Install the three screws in the fuel filler cover under the fuel door. Toyota . How to Replace a Jaguar Fuel PumpMost Jaguars are equipped with powerful engines--but if you are beginning to notice a lag when you depress the gas pedal or your Jaguar is sputtering when you're starting up or driving, you may have a clogged fuel pump. Luckily, changing a Jaguar pump filter is not difficult. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Screwdrivers Pliers New fuel filter Step by Step : 1 Crawl under the car near the rear bumper and locate the gas tank (large metal tub-looking protrusion). Find the gas line running from the end of the gas tank toward the front of the vehicle. 2 Follow the gas line until you locate a clear plastic apparatus, which is the fuel filter. Pry the filter from the fuel filter mount with a screwdriver, then use the pliers to pull the tubes off the ends of the fuel filter. 3 Pry the filter from the fuel filter mount with the screwdriver, then use the pliers to pull the tubes off the ends of the fuel filter. 4 Slide the gas lines onto the proper sides of the new fuel filter and then slide the filter back into the mount. 5 Start the car, turning the key to "Accessories On" for 3-5 seconds, and then turn the car the rest of the way on. This allows the fuel pump to prime the gas line prior to the engine's firing. Tips & Warnings Stay away from sparks or flame as you change the filter, and always wear safety glasses to prevent a fuel splash to the eyes. Figure 9-5 shows a large gear placed next to a small gear so that their teeth mesh. If the large gear has 30 teeth and the small gear has 10, the large gear turns once to every three turns of the small gear. In other words, the large gear turns only a third of the way around for every complete revolution of the small gear. The gears in your transmission work on this principle, which is called a 3:1 gear ratio. As you can see back in Figures 9-1 and 9-4, the turning drive train brings a gear into contact with other gears of different sizes. That's why the transmission input shaft that runs between the engine and the transmission turns at the same rate of speed as the engine, but the Chapter 9: Take the Drive Train: Understanding Transmissions... 1 7C transmission output shaft that leaves the transmission and carries the power via the driveshaft and differential to the rear wheels turns at a different rate, depending on which gears in the transmission are engaged. (If you're feeling mind-boggled, reread Steps 5 through 10 in "How the power flows through the drive train" earlier in this chapter.) In Low gear, the gears in the transmission make the driveshaft (and therefore the wheels) turn more slowly than the engine. In fact, the driveshaft may turn only once for every, four engine revolutions. All the power of the swiftly running engine is channeled into those few turns. The wheels turn more slowly, but they have more power to put into each turn, so your car can start, climb a hill, or pull a trailer. Not only does the engine run faster, but you also have the mechanical advantage of the big gear providing more leverage by turning slowly but with more force. In Second gear, the engine turns more slowly than it did in Low, putting out less power but more speed because the wheels can turn more quickly. In this gear, the driveshaft may turn once for every two engine revolutions, or twice as fast as in Low gear. In High gear, the gear ratio can drop to around 1:1, which means that the engine and the driveshaft turn at relatively the same rate of speed. The wheels can go very fast; yet the engine doesn't put out additional power to produce that speed. Because you've overcome inertia by the time you shift into high gear and generally have nothing more to contend with than wind Toyota . Who wus the inventer of the automobile?

In Fifth gear, the ratio is usually an overdrive of around 0.75:1, which means that the engine can turn more slowly than the output shaft's speed. You want to be at that ratio on the highway for good fuel economy. However, you do need to downshift if you want to pass someone, because you don't have much engine power with this ratio. Automatic Transmissions Did you know that today's automatic transmissions are computer-controlled hydraulic systems? Previous automatic transmissions were mechanically controlled. This section covers the basic features of both. An automatic transmission works on the same basis as a manual transmis sion does, with a gear selector on the steering column or floor to allow you to tell the car to park, idle, go in reverse, go forward at varying speeds, or Toyota . The torque converter replaces the standard transmission's clutch. The torque converter is a fluid coupling that transfers power from the engine to the transmission input shaft. It allows for smooth transfer of power and at highway speeds can be locked up to reduce slippage and improve fuel economy. Shifting in an automatic transmission is controlled by either a hydraulic system or an electronic system. Hydraulically controlled transmissions con sist of an intricate network of valves and other components along with hydraulic pressure to control the operation of planetary gearsets (see Figure 9-6). These gearsets can be fashioned to generate three, four, or five forward speeds. Toyota . How is protein like a car engine?

As the engine speed changes, the pump that pumps the transmission fluid to develop hydraulic pressure also changes speed. The transmission fluid responds to the changes in pressure by flowing through the transmission at different rates. When the car is moving slowly, the pressure is low, and only the low gears respond. In Drive, as the car's speed increases, so does the pressure, and higher gears are brought into play. The hydraulic pressure drives the transmission gears by means of friction bands and plates. These bands and plates do the same thing that the clutch on a manual transmission does — they pull various gears into and out of action. When mechanics tell you that your bands need adjusting, these are the bands they're talking about. They can usually make this adjustment without taking the transmission apart.
